Hi! And welcome to our page. Angela here. I suggested to Marlon that we create a page all about us, not because I'm a complete narcissist, but because I figured if we're having strangers come eat in our home, it might be nice for them to know a little about us. It might make things less "awkward".
To prove I'm not a narcissist, read about my beginnings and food passion in this really lengthy epic post. Here I just wanted to provide a brief summary of who I am and why I'm here and how I know Marlon. I'm in London because I am an Anglophile, and so I moved here from New York, in December 2010, as soon as I finished my BA at NYU. I don't intend on staying that much longer. I wish I could, but I have to act in accordance with certain immigration restrictions. I do enjoy living in East London. I mean, it's really just like living in Williamsburg, except the boys here, while they still may be broke just like their western counterparts, they actually look like they .... shower? Hm. I love the wail of a pedal steel guitar and sticky toffee pudding and British film. How it all began. I met Marlon the first time I came to London two years ago, I think, at Tayyabs in Whitechapel. It wasn't until he and his bf became my flatmates in NY this past summer that I realized that Marlon has a sick, genius sense of humor. Now we live together in Hackney and make each other laugh every day and then we bore a child called Afterschool Special.
MARLON
Well I was asked by Angela to write a little paragraph about me and my relationship with Angela. We've been flatmates twice now, in two different cities, almost by random chance. We've had quite the friendship -- we battled against mice and roaches in Brooklyn and have been caught in London by the "Seargant of Shoreditch" illegally peddling hot dumplings from a granny stroller to City suits lingering outside of titty bars. The point being, we've had some great moments together and we hope Afterschool Special will allow you guys to join in on our ridiculous fun times. So come by the Council mansion and let us know a little about yourselves as well!
